Fox Meadow Club, Scarsdale, NY to The Patterson Club, Fairfield, CT

WHY

The Bridgeport Rescue Mission provides meals and shelter to some of the neediest individuals in Fairfield County.  The Mission gives nearly 40,000 meals per month to its residents, guests and struggling families in the community.  Last year alone, the Mission provided over 525,000 meals to its guests and the working poor, as well as over 57,000 mobile kitchen meals.  In order to provide these wonderful services, the Mission relies heavily on individual largesse.  In fact, over half of the Mission's revenue last year came from individual donations, totaling more than $1.5 million.

DETAILS

The Paddle Against Hunger Marathon should be a great time for everyone participating.  The event will start at 6:00pm on Friday evening and for the next 24 hours, at least one of the Club's four paddle courts will be in use with participants "Paddling Against Hunger."  Each player participating in the marathon will be raising money to go the Mission (with a suggested minimum fundraising amount of $100 per player per hour).  The marathon will kick off with a pizza party and concert from a local band comprised of high school students and will culminate in a modest cocktail party to celebrate a (hopefully) successful event. This year there may be a true Paddle marathon, with Nick Bergman running from Fox Meadow to Patterson, over 50 miles, playing sets of paddle at paddle clubs along the run!  Stay tuned!
