2018 Paddle Prom
Left to right finalists Heil/Novak and winners Tunaru/Heil
Elysium Tennis hosted the third annual Paddle Prom mixed tournament on May 19th. The tourney was a full 16 draw filled with top 20 players and past Region IV presidents cup players battling throughout the day. It was a highly competitive day as there were a number of three set matches throughout the draw in both the main and back draws. Second seeds Alice Tunaru and Brian Heil defeated Leland and Lea Morris in the first semifinal in two tough sets to reach the finals of the 2018 Prom. Top seeds and defending champions Amy Heil and Balazs Novak outlasted Abby Hand and Mark Barry, coming back from down 3-0 in the third to take the final set 7-5 and advance to finals to force a rematch of last years final. The rematch had many fast exchanges and flashes of brilliance from all players but in the end, Tunaru/Heil proved too much for Heil/Novak and claimed the title of Prom King and Queen, 6-3,7-5.

2018 Paddle Prom The day was a great success filled with plenty of tuxes, food, booze, laughs and paddle. It was great to have a few first timers out and hope to have even a bigger and better prom tourney next year. Thanks to the Elysium Tennis staff for all the work put in to run a great tourney. Special thanks to Master Athletics and Rich Ihlendorf for providing the balls and booze respectively.
