Sixteen teams duked it out for the Island B Women's tournament on a sunny, warm Sunday in Newport and Jamestown, Rhode Island. The top four seeds were all seasoned and steady, while the rest of the draw was filled in by competitors and some gals from New Jersey just looking for another party.

Sage Shanley, Region II's latest high-level tennis player convert to the game, and Heather Mahan didn't lose a set in the draw until they took on Hilary Meyers and Courtia Worth in the final. Shanley and Mahan battled sun, shadows, and wily shots to win at 6-2, 4-6, 6-1.

Thanks to Tournament Directors Alyce Dwyer and Meg Myles, and Hut Commanders Jacques Faulise and Tim O'Neil for volunteering time and effort to a wonderfully appointed tournament.
