Congratulations to Liz Cruz & Marcela Rodezno Hernandez who won the 2014 Long Island Invitational in a great, wet match over Jane McNitt & Wendy Shpiz, 6-4, 7-6. Both teams were unseeded. McNitt and Shpiz were the first team this season to defeat top seeds Ana Brzova and Viki Stoklasova, in a three-set semifinal.

Cruz and Hernandez battled second seeds Cynthia Dardis and Amy Shay in the other semifinal, winning a tight match at 6-4, 7-6.

Thanks to tournament director Tim Mangan and all the volunteers for putting on a great tournament.
